Editing
Editing
Here shows a screen shotS of me editing my music video. To edit and alter my music video I am using Premiere pro soft ware, the same I used last year. The software can be slow at times however it is the best way to edit, as it gives you a variety of different affects that you can apply to your video. I aim to use these affects to my advantage and add them in to create a variety of different transformation.

Inspiration
For the text of my magazine advert i got my inspiration from Dua Lipa's poster. I liked how the text was just an outline meaning you could still see the image, i wanted this on mine as the image shows off the glowy skin and i did not want the text to ruin this by only seeing some of it. I also liked the colour combination of the poster, so decided to use colour similar these being pink and grey.
Here are a few screen shots of my image next to other artists work.
Here is a screen shot of my music advert nest to Katy Perry's although the colour and image are different i liked the layout, so got my inspiration from this. This really helped as my image was square and i was struggling how to lay it out along with all the information.

Intertextuality
The term intertextuality refers to the process of creating references to any kind of media text with in another media text. An example being 'Family Guy' throughout an episode it may refer to another text such as 'Breaking Bad' or another example being it may reference 'Star Wars'.
Advantages:
- Enjoyment
- It means the fans of the programme, may watch some of the texts that are referenced throughout the episode.
- Allows the audience to interact with the programme
Disadvantages:
- If the viewers have not seen the programmes/ films referenced, it means nothing th them , therefore they may lose interest - may lose viewers.
Parody's:
Pastiche:
A Pastiche is the opposite to a parody , a parody aims for a comic effect however a pastiche is often intended as a compliment to the original writer. In a way a pastiche is a serious version of what a parody is. Although a pastiche pays tribute to the original text it may just be a collection of borrowed words and ideas.
However I will not be creating intertextuality in my own work.

Copyright Permission
Dear Copyright Holder,
We are A-Level students and are writing to request your permission to use one of your tracks New Rules by Dua Lipa.
With your permission to use this track we would use it in our current A-level media studies project, which involves creating a music video to a popular music track, as well as producing an album cover and a magazine advert for the artist.
If we received your permission, this track would only be used in an educational context and be viewed by our media class, teacher and the OCR exam board. It would not be released to a large audience.
The artist and your company would of course be fully recognised throughout pre-production and the final video itself. A copyright notice with wording supplied by you can be included in the records of the project. If this is required, please send full details and
I look forward to hearing from you.

Representaion

Often in the Media women are viewed and recognised for there bodies, and the media highlight their figures. However the Media focuses more on the slim figures rather then the more curver body shape , as they think it is not as appealing to the eye, however each body shape is beautiful.
Throughout time many companys and organisations have been trying to change this for example the dove campaign (Campaign for real beauty). It all started with women posing in their undergarments in a confident way to show off their natural curves, after this it gave million of women around the world more self esteem and more confidence in their body, and to make them confident in their own skin.
The image itself has a white background therefore this draws your attention to the models. The only thing they have within the image other then the models is the title , “New DoveFirming. As tested on real curves” and an image of the product. The color white is used to symbolize that dove has a better and brighter future as the colour white is seen as pure. Overall this campaign has changed the way the media views women for the better, and is forever expiring different companys to do the same.

Audience
Mass audience:
A mass audience is a collection of technologies that reach a large audience via mass commuincation, although it is difficult by creating a media product for a mass audience means a wider range of people will watch your product meaning , it will become more successful. A mass audience is often those who consume mainstream or popular texts such as 'soaps'.
Niche audience:
Every media product will have a specific audience in mind. A niche audience has a smaller number than a mass audience as it will only appeal to a specific group with a unique interest.
Fragmented audience:
Fragmented audience is the division of a audience into smaller groups due to the variety of a media product. An example being Newspapers and magazines can now be viewed through the hard copy or the online version as technology is forever developing. The aim is to sell as many copies as possible as the more copies sold means a bigger audience. However as you can view the product online it is hard to measure their audience as some may only look online or some may only view the hard copy , and some may do both. However the institutions are still making money as the only version means less prints will be made therfore saving money, so technology has its advantages.
Primary audience:
The primary audience are the decision makers, they recieve commuication directly.Primary audience includes anyone who will receive a copy and anyone who will affected by the media product. The priamry audience being the main body of viewers also known as the target audience.
Secondary audience:
The secondary audience is simply the second most important consumer segmant that you would like to target.Although the secondary audience does not fall in the primary audience it still makes up a large percentage of the statistics.

Niche audience:
Fragmented audience:

Costume design/Props
Costume Design:
- Simplistic costumes: -Dancers:Black tights and leotard- We have decied to but them in this clothing as we think it will enhance there features
- - Main Character: Off the shoulder top and jeans, filming just the upper half of the body- will not be able to see the top just shoulders. Giving the effect that she is not wearing anything as we think this will be add a modern twist.
- - Male:Shirt, trousers and blazer- The male will wear this so he appears smart/dressed up giving off the connotations that he is trying to make an effort.
- Simple Makeup: - Dancers: Just foundation-To give a dewy, glowy effect to the skin - Main Character: Foundation- Bright/Glowy skin, Highlighter on the shoulders so the light reflects off of them. As well as this, she will also wear white mascara to add a modern twist to our music video
- - Male: No Makeup

Bath:
For the milk bath we need milk obviously and flowers. To create the white water you simply just add the milk to the water. I then added the flowers, however made the mistake of using fake flowers first which sunk. I then used real flowers which worked much better. I chose to use white and purple flowers as I thought it linked in with my music video well as it linked to the purple lighting. Purple and white also compliment each other well. It also adds a femine touch, as stereotypically flowers are represented as 'girly'. When filming in the bath I also used a studio light, for the perfect lighting, i also like how it reflects of the water.

Filming in the bath
When fist filming these scenes we had a slight problem. We first started with buying fake flowers to be placed in the bath however we soon found out that fake flowers do not float but in fact they sunk.
Here is a clip that we record from when the flowers where sinking as you can see the camera work is not stead as we could all not stop laughing.
After doing this we then tried with real flowers and the worked so much better.

Research on genre
Conventions:
The conventions we have adhered too in our music video:

In our video we will adhere to the rules of a music video, therfore these will be, editing on the beat which was andrew goodwins theory. We will also have lip syncing with our star image which is often recognisable in a music video. Another thing we will adhere to is dancers in our music video which again is recognisable. We will use young attractive women dancers therefore this will appeal to the male gaze, so widening our audience.
What we have challenged:
In our music video we have not really subverted anything however we have challenged something, this being women empowerment. So in our music video we will make the women appear powerful and strong as thy come together to help therefore friend get over a former boyfriend this being our narrative, so we will tell this story throughout the music video.
Overall our text is formulaic and follows the formulas of a music video.

Rob Johnstone work shop
Rob Johnstone work shop:
An ex student came in today to help us with our media course work and give us some individual advice. Rob gave us some advice about editing and also about our story boards. He told us that the more in depth we go in our story boards, it will help us more in the future when filming our music video or short film . He stressed that doing/making drafts first helped immensely as it gave him a rough idea of what would work and what wouldn't work. He said it also helped as it meant that you can receive audience feedback to help with all three of your ancillaries.

Sound
Sound:
My partner and I decided to recreate the sound of someone walking on gravel, as we think that it would be a good way to start our music video, hearing the sound of someone walking , however not being able to see them.
An example being that at the very start of the music video for "fifth Harmony-work from home". You can hear the sound effect for some one walking , however this is only for few seconds.
Overall we thin that this would be the best sound effect that linked to our idea the most.

Sound is the backbone for any music video, so is really important. When editing my music video I will make sure that i adhere to Andrew Goodwin's theory, editing on the beat.

Shot list
Shot List:
For our music video we will be using a variety of different shots to capture our characters.
For our music video we will be using a variety of different shots to capture our characters.
- Pan
- High angles
- Extreme close ups
- Medium close ups
- Long shot
- Close up
We aim to use a wide range of shots , as each shot will symbolize something within the shot. Such as an exteme close up means the audience will be able to see the facial expressions on the character to know exactly what they are feeling. Another example being a pan this will allow the audience to see the characters body image as well as the different mice en scene within the shot, e.g. the scene with the flowers in the bath, we use a medium close up so you can see the facial expressions and the flowers. Overall we hope to have a variety of shots in our music video.

Media language
Media Language:
Media language means the way in which a text is constructed to create meaning for a reader or viewer of the text. All media texts are constructed, someone has made decisions about how they should be constructed so then the form matches the content and with a particular audience in mind.
A few Examples:
What we will do in our Music video:
In my partners and I music video we intend to keep everything simplistic, therefore we will have simple hair and little makeup, we intend to keep the skin very natural and make it glow. We believe this we be the best idea as it will enhance our characters natural beauty, and will put across a statement that you do not need a lot of makeup to look beautiful. We will keep the costumes simple as well so it allows the audience to focus more on the dancing and the characters instead of what they are wearing.

Lighting
In my group we collected some research to find our favourite lighting techniques and what we are most likely to use in our music video. We decided that our favourite lighting was low key, as we think it adds mystery and suspense to a video. Low key lighting creates shadows and is often used in horror films, so lighting has become a convention of those genres (horror). An example that we found for low key lighting was "1975
Somebody Else" music video and an example that it is used in film is in "Harry potter".
Here are some examples that i took for low lighting.
In my group we came to agreement that in our music video we are most likely to use back lighting throughout as well as other lighting techniques.
We thought that back lighting will work best with our music video, as it can create silhouettes of the characters and can add shadows and depth to the scene. Back lighting is the process of illuminating the character/subject form the back. Back lighting can be both natural or artificial light however I think that in our music video we will use artificial light, therefore we can have more control over it.

An example for back lighting in a film is "kong skull island" and a music video example is "MNEK, Don't call this love".

Here are some examples that i took for back lighting.
